In light of recent events showing that not all of our coffee
beans were being received from fair trade production, our CEO decided to take a
trip and visit the actual farms where World Coffee’s beans are ethically
harvested.
When he
arrived in Columbia, the CEO was greeted by the coffee farmers and their
families, and then led to the coffee fields. He got too see exactly where World
Coffee products come from, while seeing the faces of those that make the coffee
possible.
“Meeting
these wonderful people and seeing all of their hard work has only inspired me
to strengthen the ethical focus of World Coffee,” he said in an interview
following his visit to Columbia. “These coffee farmers are the ones that make
my job and my company possible, and they deserve fair treatment.”
After some
employee restructuring to ensure that there were no more scandalous surprises
in World Coffee’s supply chain, the company has also dedicated space on their
website to showing the public how they are meeting their ethical standards. You
can view any recent updates by visiting World Coffee online, and going to their
‘Fair Trade’ tab.
Visits to
coffee farmers, like this trip, will now become a frequent event. The CEO plans
to visit each location where World Coffee receives its product to show the
farmers and consumers that the company is dedicated to ethical products.
To
connect with the CEO personally, use the hashtag #WorldCoffeeQuestion to get
your queries answered in the Twitter Chat on Friday, May 30th from
2:00pm-3:00pm EST. You can also follow the company and CEO on social media to
watch for any more updates on their commitment to fair trade products.
